Who We Are?
Our Mission
The Moroccan Association of Toronto has the goals and objectives of creating a community solidarity dynamic among Moroccans in Toronto by organizing events with a social, cultural, educational, sporting, and economic vocation. Defend the interests of the community and promote the attachment of future generations to their Moroccan identity by preserving the traditional positive aspects of Moroccan culture among children and young people.Â
Support community members as much as possible in situations of social, legal, or family distress. Advise and inform Moroccan newcomers to Toronto. Ensure that the culture, history, and identity of Morocco are known, as well as the foundations for a productive cultural exchange between English-speaking Canada and Morocco.
Our History
The Moroccan Association of Toronto was founded on November 8, 2001 by eight Moroccans from Toronto. Since its creation, the association has ensured an honorable and positive representation of the Moroccan community of Toronto while promoting the spirit of solidarity and highlighting the identity and heritage of the mother country.
The association has also always been a main actor in cultural exchange between Canada and Morocco. The efforts of the Moroccan Association of Toronto are recognized and acclaimed by many of its governmental, non-governmental and community partners in Morocco and Canada.
AMDT had the honor of receiving a royal letter from His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The association also received the award for best community project awarded by the Trillium Foundation.
The reputation and influence of the association give it a privileged place in the fabric of Toronto associations, especially among Francophone organizations in Ontario. We continue to write shining chapters in the history of the integration of Moroccans living in Toronto in their host country and we have the ambition to make AMDT a flagship association that represents Morocco, Africa, and the Francophonie.
